Sexual Abuse Policy - Down To Earth

Policy Statement:

Down to Earth (DTE) is dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members of our community. We condemn any form of sexual abuse, harassment, or misconduct and are committed to preventing, addressing, and remedying such behavior.

Scope:

This policy applies to all individuals associated with Down to Earth, including members, volunteers, and programme attendees.

Definition:

Sexual abuse includes, but is not limited to, any unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or any other verbal, non-verbal, or physical conduct of a sexual nature that creates an uncomfortable or hostile working environment.

Reporting Procedure:

Any individual who experiences or witnesses sexual abuse at Down to Earth is encouraged to report the incident promptly.

If the incident occurs at ConFest, complaints will be made through the Rangers and Site-Ops, and First Aid if necessary.

Incident reports deemed severe enough will be forwarded to the complaints team (currently a team within the board) to be dealt with.

Reporting can also be submitted directly to the complaints team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Future consideration to be given for an anonymous reporting mechanism provided by DTE.

Investigation and Resolution:

Down to Earth will conduct an investigation into all reported incidents of sexual abuse. Appropriate corrective action, up to and including life bans from all DTE activities, will be taken against individuals found to have engaged in sexual abuse.

Confidentiality:

Down to Earth is committed to maintaining confidentiality to the extent permitted by law during the investigation process. However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in certain circumstances where the safety and well-being of individuals may be at risk.

Non-Retaliation:

Retaliation against any individual who reports sexual abuse or participates in an investigation is strictly prohibited. Anyone found engaging in retaliation will be subject to disciplinary action.

Prevention and Training:

Down to Earth will provide regular training to members and volunteers, conducting awareness programs to prevent sexual abuse. Training will include information about the organization's policies, reporting procedures, and the consequences of engaging in sexual abuse.

Review and Revision:

This policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Effective Date:

This policy is effective as of 1st Feb 2024
